Brunch: making morning
drinking seem classy since forever
Who hasn’t yet dreamed of a fancy character
experience with good food and nice drinks? Well, I’m sure I have! And as dreams
are made possible at Disneyland Paris, the Sunday brunch at Inventions is the
place to be for any characterloving foodie.
She works hard for the
money
Before I burst into my neverending love song
for this brunch experience, I will mention the price first. As you’ll see on
the pictures, all the fancy food and loads of characters are amazing, but it
comes at a certain price. The price for a brunch is €70 euros per person for
adults (update january 2017) and 34 euros per person for children. On special occasions, prices per
adult can go up to 89 euros, like on Easter, Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year
(and others). Included in this price are unlimited access to the buffet, one
glass of Champagne (fruit juice for children) and character hugs until your
little heart is filled with love. The restaurant is open from 1pm till 3.30 for
the brunch. Now this is out there, we can move on with the real magic!
I’ll see you when you
get there, if you ever get there
People often wonder if you can just burst into
the Disneyland Hotel if you want to eat there. Well YES and NO! NO, because it
is fairly impossible to get into the restaurant to eat without a reservation
made at a certain time. And YES, because the Disneyland Hotel is open to
everyone. You don’t have to sleep there to go in and have a stroll through the
Victorian themed lobby and the hotel shop.
If you don’t know
where to go, then it doesn’t matter which path you take
The restaurant is easiest to access by the side
door to the Disneyland Hotel. If you stand in front of the hotel from outside
the park, you just have to go all the way to the right and take the door there,
which leads you directly into the lobby. On the other hand, if you’re coming
from inside the park, exit through the left hand side and you’ll reach the same
door. Once inside, take a moment to
appreciate the smell of the Disneyland Hotel. If you’ve never been, this will
be the weirdest thing. If you’ve already been inside: fistbump! You know what I
mean! To get to the Inventions restaurant, you can take the elevator (the
restaurant and bar are indicated on the buttons) or take the staircase all the
way up. Then you have to take the glass walkway corridor over the entrance to
the parks and pass the hotel boutique into a smaller lobby. Here you find the
bar, and two restaurants, so into Inventions you go…
Eat all the food in
the world
The food formula at Inventions is a
stuff-your-face all-you-can-eat buffet. The buffet consists of 4 main parts:
cold starters and soup, seafood, warm main dishes and dessert heaven.
Everything is set out really nicely and if it doesn’t look delicious anymore
because too many people touched the food, it is replaced by fresh delicious
stuff. Also be sure to look out for the ice sculpture in the seafood part. You
can pick anything you want and don’t even have to take your plate back to the
buffet, you can always take a fresh plate. Just be sure you eat everything you
picked out, because throwing food away is such a waste. The food is actually
different on every brunch, because it is also adapted to the theme of the
brunch, which I’ll talk about in the characters part. I’ll let the pictures
speak for itself now, be sure to have at tissue at the ready for if your mouth
starts watering.
This was the buffet on November 29th, 2015:
Step inside the
storybook
Now on to the characterside of the brunch,
which is actually the main part for me. Every brunch is themed and all
character outfits are adapted to the given theme. The presence of certain
characters is never sure, only Mickey and Minnie are for sure there to welcome
special guests according to the theme. The character interaction is always
great and they take a lot of time at each table. I’ll give an overview of all
themes and characters outfits that I’ve been to since I started doing the
brunches in October 2013, so you have an idea of which characters usually
attend.
